Australia’s massive size and enormous diversity of terrain types means our country is home to some of the most striking and varied landscapes on Earth – and serves as one incredible canvas for landscape photography.
Australia’s landscapes differ greatly from one state or region to the next; each offers something completely different, from stunning island environments, to fiery red slices of the Outback, to verdant regions lush in greenery and teeming with quality food and drink – and much more.
It’s these landscapes which form the backdrop for many an unforgettable travel adventure, and while historic artists previously reverted to the paintbrush to depict their majesty, our generation is blessed with technology that can capture true-to-life shots of Australian terrain. Any trip within Australia starts with one question: which kind of landscape do I enjoy?
To submit your photo entry for the Landscape category, please ensure it adheres to the following criteria:
- Must be within Australia – no overseas experiences will be accepted for submission.
- Must not be heavily modified – aim to keep filters, overlays, colour adjustments and any other manipulation to an absolute minimum.
- Must be taken with DSLR, Action Cam or similar – mobile phone photos will not be accepted. EXIF data will be required for shortlisted contestants.
- Must be natural landscapes – this category is for natural landscapes only; for urban photography/cityscapes, please submit your entry under the “Architecture” category.
You will be judged on your ability to capture unique lighting, angles, or perspectives of both iconic and hidden Australian landscapes in a way that has not yet been done before.
